Welcome to English 1102!

Welcome to my portfolio for my English 1102 class! I am Alizeh Rehman and I have made this website for my English class at Georgia Institute of Technology. This class is taught by Professor Malavika Shetty during the Fall semester of 2012.

Each English 1102 class at Georgia Tech is centered around a specific theme. The theme of this class is linguistics. The assignments for this semester consisted of a network project Prezi presentation, a “This I Believe” audio essay, blog postings over various topics that fall under the category of linguistics and communication, a JumpStart project and presentation, as well as website.

The purpose of this course is to teach good habits of writing that include: taking the rhetorical situation into consideration, using a feedback process to continually edit and improve the project, developing a good argument that initiates critical thinking, using research to support arguments as well as counterarguments, citing sources to give recognition to the authors of the used work, using appropriate and correct conventions, using multiple modes (W.O.V.E.N.) skillfully.

One of the main focuses of this course was on W.O.V.E.N.(different modes of communication). These modes of communication include written, oral, visual, electronic, and non-verbal.

This website aims to demonstrate how the assignments completed throughout this semester are related to W.O.V.E.N.

For a better understanding of or more information on the W.O.V.E.N. method, click on the About WOVEN page.

To see the connections between WOVEN and the assignments completed this semester click through the Written, Oral, Visual, Electronic, and Non-verbal pages on the menu.
